I was looking through images today and came across this shot from Nat&Matt's wedding. It was one that I passed by a number of times but this time it hit me a little differently. Matt and Natalie had just said their handwritten vows to each other and made everyone cry with the sincerity and originality that came out of their mouths. Their wedding was special for this reason. They interjected themselves into every aspect from location to the ceviche to remind them of their favorite place. Matt was the type of groom who had opinions on details and how the whole shebang was going to go down. They hung out with their guests before the ceremony creating a laid back atmosphere, everyone was comfortable. They decided just as the sun started going behind a hill to begin the ceremony and everyone took their glass of wine over to the spot under a tree to watch them become husband and wife. It was magic and we are honored to have the memory.

Ashla and Brian

Once upon a time I moved to Santa Cruz with this sweet girl, Ashla. We ran around, laughed constantly, moved 4 times in 3 years, and did just about everything together. During that time I fell in love with photography and Ashla was my subject many times. She was such a sport and was down to try anything I thought up. Ashla, your patience is amazing and I probably wouldn't be here today without your encouragement. Thank you. I would post some of the shots I took back in the day but, alas, I was going through a 'nude' phase and can't find one suitable for anyone but her soon to be husband :)

That brings me to Brian.

During those 3 years in SC a mutual friend of our roommate came by to hang out one day. He was sweet and kind and had sparkly blue eyes that could make anyone feel at ease. Ashla was a good student and must have had her head too far down a book to notice because she didn't, and doesn't even remember that day. But I do and so did Brian. He tracked Ash down in the years to come and here we are, celebrating their engagement! I could not pick a more perfect match for each of them. They are goofy and fun, extremely generous, and have passion out the wazoo! I am so happy for you both!

This is what happens when you meet people at a bridal faire, end up shooting their wedding, and fall madly in love with them in the process. See those smiling faces? The delicious bounty before us? This is the stuff dreams are made of.
Extremely good looking friends who come over to pick out wedding album images and make you dinner too! what! you heard me. Lindsay MADE us dinner at our own house and it was bombsauce!
An amazing soup of all our favorite things, coconut milk, fish, lime, cilantro....
We looove these two loveys. I can't say it enough.

This has been the wedding season of 'we go way back'. Angela and I met a long long time ago during a production of Oliver in which we were both Fagin's boys and orphans together. We ate gruel, we clicked our heels. I quickly came to the realization that she and her brother and their cousins were THE coolest humans. Brandon met Angela a few years later in the context of his friend Ryan's little sister. So to make a long story a bit condensed, we both are STOKED to see this pretty little lady get hitched to her hunky professional runner hubby, Kyle.

Nate and Cristy met in a salsa class. A signature move was made by Cristy and Nate was hooked. Brandon and I both knew Nate from high school so it was a fun reunion. It is so great to see a friend find a soul mate!
Their wedding took place at Pelican Point in Shell Beach. It was a gorgeously perfect day!

I had the chance to photograph these three beauties while we were in Visalia. Elly is a photographer as well so I was extremely honored to have her want me to photograph her family. They wore these gorgeous fluffy skirts in vibrant colors! It was a dream! And the icecream truck came by just in time to get some equally colorful pops!

We booked this wedding over a year ago and were counting down the days to it since then for a few reasons. A. yes, it was in Maui which means we got to go to Maui (yay)

When you get an invitation like this you get a bit excited!!
and C. because I fell in love with Jackie the first phone conversation we had, she is one of those people you just want to be around and can talk to forever. Very magnetic :) And her husband, Fred is THE life of the party. so as you can tell, this makes for a super amazing time!
They had a rehearsal bbq a couple days before. Fred cooked a most awesome meal for all of us!

and I have a million excuses and reasons. Tales of busyness and moving and hurting my hands, and being over worked. But none of that matters now, right? So, part of the reason I havent blogged in so long is I was behind and wanted to blog in chronological order. I'll be blogging the amazing events and shoots I have done as I go along. For now, here are a few shots from the latest engagement sesh. Pat and Katy.

We had SO much fun running around with them. A little white wine and off to the property where the wedding will take place later this year. It was a wonderfully overcast day.

So my good friend Tiffany tagged me in a chain-letter-esque game going around where you have to tell 8 things about you that most people probably don't know...so here i go.

8 things about me...

1} I genuinely like to clean the toilet. It started at around age 8 when my girl scout troop had to clean up after a sleep over and chores were divvied out. No one wanted the task of cleaning the bathroom so I took the job. A few other girls were gagging and ewwing but I didn't mind a bit. The satisfaction of getting that pearly pot clean and shiny and smelling of bleachy goodness was enough to make me not mind the thought of the source of dirtiness. I love the little sudsy tuffet of liquid that is left over announcing it's cleanliness. I like to leave it like that so the next person can enjoy knowing they are the first one to go after a good cleaning. yes, i am a freak.

2} I knew I was going to marry Brandon within the first week of knowing him. My friends and I were all sitting around commiserating over the fact that I wouldn't be at their high school reunion as I am a year younger. Brandon and I were a new immature high school couple and marriage was not a logical direction. I don't know what it was, premonition, God, or my own love-struck daydream, but I heard "No, I'll be there. I will be married to Brandon and we will all go together." I didn't dare say it out loud as I would have shocked myself, friends, and my new boyfriend. We did, in fact, break up not long after. But not forever. :)

3} I really never thought I would be a photographer. I worked for a photographer, caddied, loved shooting, loved weddings, but just thought I would be doing something else. I continued to shoot a ton of pictures, take photo classes. I wanted to be a potter, an actress, a world traveler( still on the list) a pilot, and the list goes on. Then one day when I moved back to my home town after college I was in this weird place. I had just gotten a job as a flight attendant. I was waitressing. I was unhappy with either direction. I walked down to my old boss's studio and told her and she said "well, come work for me again!" so I did. A few weeks later my Dad bought me my first digital camera the EOS 10D and it was on like Donkey Kong.

4} When I was a little kid I used to picket with my Mom and little sis with a group of crazy PETA members. We would stand outside stores yelling "what do we want?" "fur free America!" when do we want it? "NOW" We got kicked out of supermarkets for putting stickers warning consumers of animal products in face creams and such. I also fought the school system to get rid of dissection in 7th grade. I was a crazy little activist.

5} I have a freaky good memory. Now it doesn't always work, but I can remember weird details, people from ages ago, I can probably remember what you wore last time I saw you. My Mom and Dad think I am crazy. I can literally remember things from when I was 2-3 years old.

6} When I grow up I want to be a merbird. What on earth is that you ask? Well it is a mermaid with wings. The perfect creature don't you think? When I doodle, 9 times out of 10 it is of merbirds.

7} My nickname in high-school was Heffer. yup. A term of endearment taken way way too far.
Once, my friend John was across the street from me downtown and he yelled out "Hey Heffer" and this lady who was on the same side of the street as me yelled back "Hey, f#*% you!" as she thought he was talking to her. I said, "nooo, he's talking to me!" Lady: "yeah right!
It was hilarious...

8} When drinking wine or soda I always lick the little drop of beverage after sipping or slurp it up out of the can's gutter. I like a tidy glass/ can i guess. Brandon thinks it is hilarious.

Andrew and Denise

As a photographer, one of the highest honors is to photograph for a fellow photographer. Andrew is a very talented photog in the central valley. Brandon and I were extremely excited to shoot this wedding as the location and people couldn't be more fun! They got married at a historical museum in Bakersfield. There were endless possible photo spots as the grounds have old buildings and machinery all over the place. Denise and Andrew were a complete joy to be around as was their entourage. They compliment each others effortlessly. Both families were amazingly loving.

Alli and Brian got engaged in a photobooth. ( a couple after my own heart :) that pretty much made me want to pay them to shoot their wedding as I am obsessed with the booths and have spontaniously exclaimed while jumping up and down, "the fair the fair the mid state fair. we get to take pics in the photobooths!!" ever since the fair ended last year.
So yeah, I already have quite a bit of love for these people. Then we ran around one afternoon shooting their engagements and the love grew and grew. We cannot wait for your wedding next weekend!

Every detail was fun and unique to their likes.

My beautiful friend Tiff (taphotodesign.com) had a shoot over here at the coast a few weeks back and we got to spend some quality time together. We have both whined the "I'm a photographer and I don' have any pictures of myself" so decided the best way to solve that would be to put eachother in front of the camera for a little target practice :) . She is GORGEOUS. I mean, I knew that already, but to have these images as proof of how the girl can work it, wow! Then I got to tag along to see her at work with an engagement sesh. Mason and Landon

A couple of years ago we photographed Mason with baby ducks for Easter. He really left an impression on us. He was 3 years old and was so polite and gentle with the little duck. We would talk about how sweet he and his family were. We still say we hope our kids will have a similar temperament to Mason. Well, I just had the opportunity to photograph Mason and his new baby brother, Landon. Mason is still the sweetest kid! And Landon is hilarious. He wasn't too pleased to have his picture taken but humored us with some smiles anyway. Mason is such a big help in getting Landon to laugh.

I can remember meeting Alice in Wonderland at Disneyland when I was about four years old. She was so nice, gave me a hug, posed for a picture with me, looking dashing in the blue and white outfit and black headband that I had admired so many times in the movie. I was love-struck, full of awe, shy in the presence of my favorite character. It was probably my first brush with fame, the coolest princess to my little world. Katrina possessed those same qualities that I can remember about Alice. She is a true beauty. Gentle and graceful. During the engagement sesh she floated around never looking awkward. Brian, her fiance, is a perfect match. He is funny, easy going, and a gentleman. They made the hours spent great. It was always easy, well, Rosa and Rita their pups were typical Chihuahuas, a little nervous, but Brian and Katrina were a dream!

I looove these girls. love em! I was so happy to spend some time with them a few days ago. Lucy, the newest addition is an absolute doll!

She was very easy going and happy to be photographed. That is saying a lot for a 3 month old. Ella and I played in her garden and ran around the yard.

She is a very good big sister already. Happy to be the big girl and help make Lucy giggle. It was lovely!

I've gotta say, this little 3 year old could use my Mark II a little too well. She watched me show her once and already knew how to look at the image she just took, work the shutter button, etc. I can see her being my competition someday soon :)

We ran around Nate's family's property off the 46 near Cambria. It is some of the most beautiful land in this area! The day couldn't have been more beautiful. With the day and the fabulous company, Brandon and I wanted to stay all day!

Married April 14th

What an awesome day! Nikki looked amazing " this is exactly how I always pictured it" she said looking at herself in the mirror.

Every detail was beautiful, nothing had gone forgotten. From the cute pink and brown lanterns in the entry to the gorgeous arch for the ceremony. Jared was cool, calm, and collected while Nikki was a bit more anxious to get married already! I had the pleasure of hanging with the beautiful ladies before the ceremony. The hair salon was bumpin'!

Though the weather threatened to rain out the ceremony, there was only a grumble from the sky until afterwards when extreme winds and light rain made everyone want to get into the reception. The room had been transformed! It was beautiful and much much too much fun was had by all.

The first time I heard Carolina's voice on the other end of the phone, I could picture what she would look like. She has this melody that comes out of her words that makes you think of beautiful maidens and princesses of fairytales. When I met up with them at a coffeeshop I knew right away that of all the people seated, she was Carolina. She fit her voice to a tee! We had so much fun running around San Luis. Tony and Carolina both went to Cal Poly and were kind enough to show me around their old stomping grounds. I got to see and pet COWS!!! You don't know how excited this made me!!

Then we ran through the gardens that were amazing. We ended our sesh at the beach. Tony makes Carolina laugh, i love it! They were both such great fun to be around! Can't wait for the engagement party in a couple weeks.

Getting hitched October 13th

Britta and Greg are so great together! And Daisy is a perfect compliment (with the softest coat ever). We met Britta a few weeks ago in town and I immediately felt right at home with her and her parents. For the sesh we met downtown Santa Cruz. It was such a treat to get a change of scenery and be at a place I love so much. It hardly felt like work at all, rather like hanging out with old friends. Greg is so comical my mouth hurt from smiling too much. They met in photography class in college and are both involved in photography so it was so fun to run around with a couple of like minded folks. I cannot wait to spend more time with them!

Are geting married later this year in my home town. I have known Sebby for a while now. He and Michelle are in my little sister's class. Though it seems perfectly normal and wonderful for Sebby and Michelle to get married, it freaks me out that they are my sister's peers and my sister is at the age when it becomes appropriate to wed. I had such a good time with these guys. We ran around random spots about Pismo beach and found the gnarliest dirt around. That stuff wanted to eat you, eh? They are a beautiful couple and I absolutely adore the contrast of Sebby's red hair and fair skin to Michelle's dark and mysterious good looks.

Vegas

We had such a wonderful time in vegas a couple weeks ago. I learned how to make my own custom albums by hand from my idol John Michael Cooper (altf.com) Got to hang out with old friends and make new ones. Celebrated my 25th birthday, ate great food and some crummy, drank margaritas, drank oter concoctions, danced, kissed David Hasselhof posters, reinacted a Jamiroqui music video on the people movers, played the nickel slots oh, and learned many new things from photographers from all over the country.

A couple weeks ago Brandon and I had SO much fun with Suzie and Dan. From the first conversation I was praying they would pick us! They had seen our work in my parent's coffeeshop up in Cambria, the Rainbow Bean (best scones and espresso around) on their way up to Carmel. They are getting married up at Ragged Point later this year. We met with them up there at the point on a beautiful day. We romped around, saw the bench where the proposing all went down and headed down the coast for some more shots. We spent a few hours and could have spent 24 more! We were having sucha good time. They are so easy to love and quite good looking. Check out Dan and Suzie's beautiful eyes!

Beloved Dusty Day

My dear sweet animal Dusty Day has gone to heaven.
She was such an amazing dog and friend to me and so many. She was our family dog growing up. I met her when I was just 12 yrs old when she retired (veeery early) from being a seeing eye dog. She became mine when my parents moved away from me to Florida in 2000. She was my immediate family. She went on to become my roommate in college, my travel companion to many a road trip. We saw both coasts and Ol' Faithful together. I cannot count the times I depended on her for comfort, relaxation, and joy. The way she would spin to show how excited she was. Her love of chow and treats and especially bananas. The way even at age 15 she would smoke us on a trail. She was always kind, always gentle. Almost always obedient unless of course there was something dead to rub in. She has enriched my life profusely. I have never known a greater loss. I feel so empty without her around. She was so much more than a dog to me. Her personality was so rich and a part of our family. She will be forever missed.

We had so much fun hanging out with this fabulous family! They're photogenic, they are entertaining, they are fun. We ran around the different spots at their house. Last Thursday we had the incredible honor of witnessing the ceremony of our dear friends Ryan and Brook. It was a very intimate gathering of the couple's parents and siblings and US! Brandon had the great task of marrying them(no, this is not a service that will be coming with photography packages in the near future :) and I played photographer. It was so so so much fun!!! Our friends, the Olsen's are not only hotties, but wonderful people who we love oh so very much! The ceremony was at the cutest restaurant in Carmel, Casa Nova's. The meal was literally the best food I have had, EVER! aaand, my fabulous friend Molly did the flowers, which were delicious smelling and looking.

Ok, so where did I leave off....I have been a crazy chicken for months now and have a few days before wedding season 2007 starts up so what better a time to update le blog.

Matt and Rebekah Leach:
The rehearsal dinner was the greatest! BOWLING, people. What better way to get two families together, competing against eachother and showing their best moves.
We love these people. Their wedding started first thing in the morning which gave it a bright sunrisy feel to the event! During the ceremony sun was streaming through the church windows right onto Matt as he awaited Rebekah. He wrote her a poem that he read to her in proposal. It was no 'roses are red' this was amazing! The ceremony was kicked off with that and he had everyone in tears.

I am just so very thankful right now! We just got back from din with Benji and Jen(bride and groom from a few months ago and our good friends now!) who are visiting town and had such a lovely time. Years of marriage that is! On Monday we celebrated the close of our second year as husband and wife. We spent some time recapping and I reminded Brandon with things like " two years ago right now I was eagerly waiting to walk out into the ceremony." "Two years ago right now we were already married and off to the cabin”
We had a relaxing day with no cell phones or emails or computers. We didn’t work at all, can you believe it! Ok, so I did do a bit of work but it was while Brandon was in the shower. :) I have a problem I know.... We went to The Avila Barn and picked out pumpkins, pet the animals, ate cobbler and ice cream, and enjoyed the day. We ran into the Milhollands there which was random. ok who are the Milhollands you ask? It all started last year this week at Bryan and Danielle's wedding. Amanda Milholland was the Maid of Honor and we met then. A few months later Amanda refered us to Stephanie and Eli and at that wedding Jen (then Barker now Horning) sang and we just shot her wedding a bit ago. So it is this wonderful web of friends and Amanda has been a great promoter for us and it helps that we love her and the lovely people she surrounds herself with. They have all been amazing. We love you Amanda! Can't wait for your turn! no rush though, really! :)

Two became one! Jen and Benji are now affectionately called Jenji. (Yes, just like Bennifer and Brangelina.) Their wedding was awesome! We arrived in San Diego the Friday before and we central coastians were shocked by the tropical weather. It was in the midst of that heat wave that swept through. The humidity definitely added to the destination feel.
The ceremony took place in the cutest chapel on Coronado Island. It was so festive with the amazing and colorful stained glass. Then we indulged in love on a beach in La Jolla before the reception. In our first email exchange Jen said "We are putting aside a few hours in between the ceremony and reception so we can take pictures. We just want beautiful images." My heart pitter-patter. Thank you seagull While at the beach onlookers asked in whispers "who are they?" thinking Jen and Benji and their entourage were a movie star duo just as they had during the engagements. "Jenji" we replied.
At the reception we dined on spicy food and cheesecake. Then Benji and Jen serenaded each other with song. They are such talented artists! I am so excited to see them grow together
The Hornings and Barkers are two amazing families. They have this exuberant love for the Lord and they radiate with it and fill your heart with joy just being around them! (Wow that sounds so cheesy but it is SO true) I am in love with all of them and their family dynamics. Jen, Benji, make babies already! :]

I am off to shoot the wedding in a minute here but I wanted to post a couple images from Christine and Johnny's rehearsal yesterday. They surround themselves with an extremely fun group of people. The rehearsal dinner was at the lovely Edna Valley Vineyards and the food was designed by Jose and Et Voila! which was amazing food! Such rich and wonderful combinations.

I tell you what, I'm excited about this couple's wedding! We had the pleasure of prancing around Pismo Beach with Benji and Jen (with their friend Ryan in tow) this afternoon. The passion was flowing free without us having to push it on. Jen said it best "This is like our dates, we're romantic people; its easy. Its like you following us around on one of our dates" I would happily be their personal paparazzi if THIS is how they are all the time! SO FUN!
Jen and Benji are extremely talented! Jen has the coolest handwriting! She wrote the words for her invitations and will probably be doing many others as soon as her guests see how rad they look! They both sing and perform in a jazz band. Benji even proposed with a song written especially for his bride. Yup, I can't wait. View their session.

We were extremely honored to shoot this wedding. Kaylen's dad is a wedding photographer so to be chosen was amazing to us as we knew how close we would be watched! It was hard for Dan to peel his camera out of his hands and be IN the wedding but he did well and i think he said he only ended up with around 400 images!
Jacob and Kaylen are such a cool couple. They are our new friends. They both have beautiful spirits. They said that they came from two extremes and met eachother in the middle. They really do balance eachother beautifully! And they sure are photogenic. Kaylen and her sister are well trained and Jacob is just a big ol' goofball when the camera points at him.
Also, Jeffrey, the Best Man seriously deserves "Best Man of the Year" This guy was amazing. He was on top of it and super helpful and fun to be around. He even straightened the isle so Jacob and Kaylen would have a smooth walk up to the reception. Great guy! You were smart to choose him Jacob!

I grew up across the street from Manueles. They are a huge Italian family and they know how to throw a party. Every holiday, birthday, or event triggered cars of happy people and tables full of food across the street. My sister and I would sigh and say " I want to be a Manuele!"
As you all know, my dream came true and I am married to the hottest Manuele of them all ;) I am INVITED to the functions! I eat the food! I hug, laugh, and love with the Manueles! This May brought one of the bigger events that is celebrated each year, The 80th birthday of Dr. Joe 'Papa' Manuele. It was a great reason to gather and was so much fun!

Marci is one of those people that is amazingly with it. She is punctual, organized, creative as well as laid back and beautiful! Michael is her handsome groom who pairs her perfection to a tee! Their wedding was gorgeous! The Evergreen Island crew does a beautiful job. The colors were so vibrant and the court and families are an attractive and fun bunch! The Smiths and Herreras are two families who are merging for the second time. Marci's sister and Michael's brother were married a few years previous. They are definately a well put together family. They are all helpful and curtious with each other. Marci was cleaning up in her dress at the end of the night and when I tried to tell her to relax she explained that this is how their family was. 'We all help out until the job is done.' That made me respect and love them even more than before.

Something tingles in my heart when this little voice shouts ' jen-jen jen-jen!' in an excited grin when I arrive! I'm in love. Ella happens to be one of my favorite humans. My cousin is her nanny and I have the honor of spending some time with them. It is always a treat. She honestly is way more fun to hang out with then most people. For this session we ran around her grandparents yard and pretended she was a princess and it was her kingdom. She looked darling in her flowy little dresses and loved to twirl in them as all girls do.

Another beautiful day, another beautiful family. Liz and Kevin are from my lovely hometown Visalia and we had the pleasure of photographing them along with their very levelheaded son, Sebastian. Brandon and I had a blast following them around the beach. Sebastian was a 'moving target' as Liz puts it and that is one of the many reasons I adore shooting kids; the challenge! Sebastian has an amazing imagination and was searching the beach for alligators and sharks (aka sticks with similar characteristics). We even got a few shots of Liz and Kevin showing off their passion for each other which I love! This was one of those sessions that left us super-charged and excited!

From the second I saw James and Nicole at the Madonna Inn Bridal Faire I wanted to shoot their wedding. There were people coming and going through our booth but they stood out to me. I was so excited when Nicole called to book us! Visualizing what the wedding day was going to be like based on the details described made it sound cool but the actual day blew my assumptions out of the water! Every detail was so eloquently done! Nicole's friend, Misty and crew decorated the ballroom at McLintock's so well! It completely transformed the already lovely room. The cake by Christine's was one of the raddest cakes I have ever seen and it was delicious. James and Nicole looked great as usual. Misty said it best when describing Nicole's entrance ' You floated into the room like a beautiful fairy.' Though we were inside a room the feel of the wedding was very much like being in a storybook garden. James and Nicole's family and friends are an amazing group. Everyone was so happy to be there. During the speeches there was not a dry eye in the place when realizing how lucky so many were to be there to attend. I fell in love with this couple and their circle of people in their lives and am so glad we had the opportunity to share their day with them.

I am so incredibly lucky to get to photograph people from my home town. I have known Bryan for who knows how long. Our moms were friends when we were wee little people so probably most of our lives. Crystal I met when we were just freshmen. They fell in love in highschool and it is so cool to see them years later still in love and graduating college and doing adult things. Crystal just got a teaching position just days after graduating and Bryan is heavily involved with his band, eluvien.
We started out freezing on the Pismo pier then ended up in SLO to catch the farmers market and eat tri-tip sandwiches. Crystal and Bryan are so fun to watch interact. Crystal is beautiful, sweet, and giddy while Bryan is a more serious, calm individual. Quite a duo. Though we have to wait until next year, their wedding is one that we are very excited about!

I love these people. I really do. Jeff and Lindsay are planning thier October wedding and I am so excited to be shooting it. I love what a gentleman Jeff is as he looks apon his soon to be bride. They are amazing and Brandon and I had so much fun shooting their engagements. WPPI in Vegas

Back in April Brandon and I had the oppurtunity to go to Vegas for five whole days to attend the WPPI conference at the Bally's and Paris Hotels. It was both Brandon and my first time in the crazy area called Vegas and I have to say driving into it was quite overwhelming. It is a huge Disneyland-esque place for adults. I don't have much to say about the chaos of it all except just that; chaos.
The conference was amazing! We were so inspired by some of the biggest names in photography and left super charged for the wedding season! There are some seriously amazing photographers and digital genius out there. We got to geek-out and touch all the newest and amazing cameras, computers, and gear at the trade show. We partied with many from the Pictage crew and made new friends. It was awesome and I can't wait to go back next year.

My very good friends Gwen and David came to visit us a while back. They are a couple of the most gorgeous people you will ever meet so I point my camera at them every chance I get. I met Gwen in 6th grade at Scicon Science Camp and a series of funny events led to us being friends. We have kept in touch ever since. She has not had the average girl's life. She has cystic fibrosis and just a couple years ago was so sick that she was thought to have little time to live if a set of lungs weren't made possible for her. But, a set of lungs did miraculously come through and she is alive and well! During her stay at the hospital she met a hunky guy with the same ailment across the hall, David. And now these two are engaged and living happily! yay. I love happy endings.

We started the day off at the lovely Apple Farm in SLO. Nicole was a bit nervous and frantically ironing her dress. The family started to trickle in and within seconds it turned into a big ol' girly situation! At one time Nicole had three attendants messing with her hair all at once.
The ceremony took place at the Monday club and it was decorated so well! The lovely Alda at the Apple Farm did all the flowers and decor. They had a MARGARITA machine! oh yes. There are few things better. It was a good time as family members showed their moves on the dance floor and smoked tequila flavored cigars.

Carrie

Avila Beach Cinco de Mayo, 2006
What a gorgeous woman Carrie is! She is so much fun to be around can't you tell! She just can't hide it. The first attempt to do Carrie's 'senior from college' pictures we got fogged out of Avila so after a few pictures went and had a drink instead with her cousin Mecaela at Custom House in Avila.

Then, finally, the sun came out and we went to her favorite spot to shoot some fun ones. It was gorgeous! I am so stoked to have met Carrie and Mecaela! It couldn't have been a more beautiful day! And Carrie's spot had so many amazing areas to utilize.

When you are with Juarez and Tanya you feel like you are in the presence of royalty. They are elegant and calm. Beautiful and divine. We started the shoot at the very bench where it all went down. The spot where he asked and she said yes! It was such an honor to walk around such a meaningful place to them. Brandon and I are so excited for their wedding in August!

Ry and Melissa

We had an amazing few hours with Ry and Melissa!
I went to highschool with Melissa and haven't spent time with her in a long time so it was so fun to see her and especially to see her in love with her amazing fiance Ry! They have such a good time! Shooting this made me so excited for thier wedding. They are always laughing with eachother and it doesn't hurt that they are both gorgeous. We went strolling on Avila Beach and then had the privledge of shooting at one of the raddest spots in an old mission style house overlooking the ocean!

Andrea and Trey

And yet another day threatened by rain! It was raining the morning of Trey and Andrea's wedding but by the time the dress was on and ready to go the sky was shiny and blue! I have been looking forward to their wedding ever since I met them. They have an amazing chemistry; they play off each other and genuinely love to be around one another. Andrea was a gorgeous bride! She was busy doing everyone else's hair and make-up and within minutes of primping herself looked perfect. Every woman's envy!

They had a private meeting before the ceremony!

A good friend of theirs married them. He was the perfect balance of serious and comedic relief.

Claire and Jake

The moment we walked in the church we were pleasantly reminded of Spring. There were beautiful arrangements of wildflowers, lillies, and pussywillows everywhere; the fragrance was so amazing! Claire's attention to detail made thier wedding so cool to be a part of down to the 'rose-buds' in her hair and the song selections. We even got a rainbow!Family and friends welcomed the newlyweds to the party with bubbles. The Crawford Barn was a perfect place to have the reception. It is rustic enough to be comfortable drinking beer in jeans yet perfectly romantic.
Ryan Olson among others got down with the limbo stick! woo!

Jared and Nikki

Another gorgeous day! March 12. 2006
Brandon and I had the great honor of spending the afternoon with Jared and Nikki to shoot their engagement pictures. This couple is SO fun to hang out with! We started out in Cayucos on the beach then went up to Cambria and had espresso and ice cream at the Rainbow Bean coffee house. We brought their dogs, Roxy and Dino to the beach they were so cute! My mouth was sore from laughing and smiling. Nikki is a beauty with an addictive laugh and Jared (who thinks he's not photogenic) totally is. It is going to be so fun to shoot their wedding.

The weather has been crazy over here. Snow? rain? hail? what will it be? Today it was fabulous! I met up with Kim Wescott, a second-mom, friend, and fellow photographer(I worked for her before starting Manuele Photography and she played a BIG role in getting me to where I am today!) I took a few pictures of her and her husband, Rick. Then I got to bounce back into 'assistant' mode and shot along side her for a family shoot. The Pope family was SO cool. They were so easy to photograph. Happy, easygoing, alive!

I am SO blessed to have a sister.
"You'll be glad you have a sister someday" my parents would tell me when I would cry to them about Caitlin hitting, mocking, taking, biting, ruining, etc. And they were truly correct. I am so thankful to have her just minutes away from me. There is not a soul that can share the speechless understanding we have with each other. And for this I am forever blessed.

While wasting time today Caitlin, my favorite model, let me take a few pictures of her in her new coat.

Brian and Sarah balance each other beautifully. He is crazy and she is poised. The day of the dress rehearsal was the first time we met the infamous Sarah and we definately see what stole the heart of our cousin Brian! We had so much fun with all the family and friends! It didn't even feel like work!

Stephanie is Gorgeous! As soon as I met her I was so excited to shoot her wedding.
Though the weather was threatening to pour, God shed light on their wedding with a beautiful day! Both families were so gracious and welcoming and the flower girl and her brother were so much fun to hang out with before the ceremony!
